Foram realizadas 31 escutas psicossociais com aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas e questionário sociodemográfico com 31 participantes, faixa etária de 56 a 89 anos em atendimento nos Serviços de Convivência e Fortalecimento de Vínculos para Idosos - SCFVI referenciados pelo Centro de Referência e Assistência Social - CRAS da cidade de João Pessoa. Utilizou-se análise de conteúdo temática orientada pelo referencial da Psicologia Sócio-Histórico, com foco no estudo da emoção e consciência do vivido e possibilidades de expansão humana. Capturou-se o eixo temático Direitos humanos e políticas públicas, significados e sentidos e três subeixos: Passividade na busca pelos direitos e responsabilização do governo; Ausência de direitos para todos; uso de políticas públicas. Os resultados apontam para um nível de descontentamento dos participantes em relação ao tratamento da sociedade e das instituições para com o idoso. Observa-se também um distanciamento no que se refere à tomada de consciência dos seus direitos e do próprio conceito de direitos humanos e políticas públicas. Conclui-se que é necessário um maior empoderamento dos sujeitos quanto ao conhecimento, questionamento, reflexão e acesso aos direitos humanos e politicas públicas e a humanização do vivido no processo de envelhecimento.\r\n \r\n Abstract:\r\n In a scenario of implementation of public policies to combat the social exclusion in Brazil, this study aims to reflect about human rights and social protection policies for the elderly from the perspective of those individuals. It was accomplished psychosocial tapping with the use of semistructured interviews and sociodemographic questionnaire with 31 participants, between 56 and 89 years old, in treatment at Services of Acquaintanceship and Bond Strengthening for Elderly (SCFVI), from the city of João Pessoa (SCFVI), referenced by the Reference and Social Assistance Centre (CRAS), in João Pessoa. It was used a content analysis, supervised by the referential of the Social-Historical Psychology, focused on the study of the emotion and awareness of the lived and possibilities of human expansion. It was realised the thematic axis Human Rights and public policies, meaning and senses and three sub axes: Passivity in the search for the rights and government accountability; Privation of the rights for all; usage of public policies. The results pointed to a level of discontent of the participants regarding the treatment of the society and institutions towards the elderly. It is also noticed a distancing regarding the awareness of their rights and the concept of humans right and public policies.
