Nesta discussão busca-se refletir o aumento da violência contra a pessoa idosa diante do seu crescimento populacional, pois a sociedade nos seus aspectos jurídico-políticos e socioeducacionais não se encontra preparada para atender e assistir as demandas socioculturais advindas deste crescimento populacional. Busca-se estabelecer um diálogo entre os textos legislativos que tratam da proteção e do cuidado a pessoa idosa em relação ao crescimento da criminalidade e da violência contra a esta faixa etária. Esta discussão é de cunho reflexivo, apoiando-se em textos que discorrem acerca da criminalidade e da violência em geral no contexto social brasileiro, mas neste artigo toma-se como vítima da violência a pessoa idosa que enfrenta muitos tipos de violência na sua vida cotidiana. Neste sentido, consideram-se as leituras realizadas em documentos legais, como a atual Constituição Federal, o Estatuto do Idoso e o Código Penal Brasileiro, além de leituras em textos teóricos que tratam da temática sobre a velhice e envelhecimento, sobretudo da violência, além de dados estatísticos sobre a criminalidade e a violência contra a pessoa idosa divulgados na impressa escrita e falada. A discussão aponta que a violência contra a pessoa idosa pode aumentar se não houver ações políticas de observância, vigilância e cumprimento da lei em parceria com propostas socioeducativas de conscientização por parte da sociedade governamental e não governamental. \r\n \r\n In modern society is notable the growth of older population in the world and in Brazil, whose the number should increase according to studies and research on old age and aging. In this discussion we seek to reflect about the increase of violence against elderly front its population increase, since the society in its legal-political and socio-educational aspects is not prepared to assist the sociocultural demands resulting from this population growth. We seek to establish a dialogue between the legislative texts relating to the protection and care of elderly in relation to the high levels of crime and violence against this age group. This discussion is featured as reflective, and its basic texts are based on discourse about crime and violence in general in the Brazilian social context, but in this article is taken as a victim of violence the elderly who face several kinds of violence in everyday life. In this sense, we consider the readings made in legal documents such as the current Federal Constitution, the Statute of the Elderly and the Brazilian Penal Code, as well as readings of theoretical texts that deal with the theme of old age and aging, especially violence, as well as statistical data on crime and violence against the elderly disseminated in the media press and spoken.
